It would appear that it's not only in the UK that people are turning to crime against their employers in the bingo industry, I read an article today about a chap in Dakota who has just been jailed for six months for stealing $136,000 from his employers, Bingo Palace, over a two year period. Of the six month sentence he received he will have to serve at least three months in prison and part of his sentence means participating in a work release programme.

The remainder of his sentence, if he is eligible, will be served at home wearing an electronic home monitoring tag. He was fired from his job at Bingo Palace surprising enough when he pleaded guilty to felony theft back in March.

Bingo entrepreneur awarded MBE

A bingo entrepreneur has been awarded an MBE in the latest Queen's honours list. Norman Jacobs is best known for running the Empire bingo hall in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire and recently sold the other club he owned in March earlier this year. Prior to operating the bingo hall Mr Jacobs was a concert promoter and his MBE has been awarded for "services to business and charity in East Anglia".

Mr Jacobs is now past retirement age but still manages to maintain and run three theatres in Wisbech, Fakenham and Bury St Edmunds as bingo hall and cinemas.

Friday 13th certainly proved unlucky for one bingo hall in Greenville, USA after the local police department received an anonymous tip off that there was a bomb at the local Lou's Beach Bingo hall. The call was received just after 9pm on Wednesday 11th June but further investigations found there was no bomb.
