Top of the Shop for Bingo Fundraisers
A group of Mecca Bingo's employees are trekking up a Welsh mountain in aid of charity as I write this article. The team from the Mecca Bingo club in Ellesmere Port and colleagues from a neighbouring club in Wednesbury Cross are currently climbing Mount Snowdon to raise money for the charity Whizz Kids.
Whizz Kids is the chosen charity for Mecca Bingo for 2008 and many events will be taking place nationally across the many Mecca Bingo clubs as part of the Mecca Wheel of Difference campaign. The aim of the campaign is to raise £250,000 to help disabled young people and children to become more mobile by supplying mobility equipment and even wheelchair training.

Ace Bingo versus Gala Bingo
This is very much a story of David versus Goliath with the underdog coming out on top. Ace Bingo in Cheltenham were quaking in their boots when a Gala Bingo club opened its doors not far from their club. With the bingo industry seeing many bingo clubs closing Ace Bingo were preparing themselves for the worse.
Customer loyalty though proved to be worth its weight in gold when Sunday saw the close of the Gala Bingo club whilst Ace Bingo continues to thrive.
Funnily enough Gala Bingo bosses blamed the smoking ban and the rise in popularity of online bingo as mitigating factors in the clubs closure whilst Ace Bingo said "all clubs are suffering the same factors but we are still here".
