Bingo News for 15th May 2008

These are the figures:-

• Fourth quarter of 2007 saw figures of $1,135,844 but there has been an 18% increase in the first quarter of 2008 with figures of $1,344,347.
• First quarter net losses of $262,543 in comparison with the fourth quarter of 2007 having a net loss of $336,968.

Fight at Bingo Hall

Many a time whilst my local Gala Bingo hall I've wanted to strangle the person who called bingo whilst I was waiting for one number but I'd never do it. I've just been reading an article about a fight at South of The Border Bingo in Davidson County (America) where police where called after one man hit another with a chair!

Apparently Bobby Hamilton suffered a laceration to his head after Albert Stockton (47) hit him with a chair. It's a shame the report doesn't go on to explain what the fight was about! Do you think it was about the bingo game?

Bingo charges faced by four

Four people recently faced a jury in Kenton County (Kentucky) for misappropriating funds from a Covington Bingo operation. In Kentucky it is illegal for bingo game volunteers to be paid and it would appear that Anna Ruff, 52, Billy Joe "Butch"Daniels, 51, Deborah Bartlett, 43 and Jeffrey Franklin, 61 where paying themselves from missing funds totalling $81,000.

This was all bought to light after the Kentucky Office of Charitable Gaming started to investigate claims that volunteers were being paid.
