Leeds ladies love bingo
Debbie Leigh from the Yorshire Evening Post says "BINGO used to be seen as a hobby purely for the blue-rinse brigade but these days it's just as likely to be played by trendy young women, a study has found."
Apparently 888 Ladies Bingo have carried out a survey which claims that nearly 31,000 Yorkshire women are playing online bingo every week and winning a staggering £18m a year whilst doing so.
Yorkshire ladies are not the only ones who like online bingo, the celebrity ladies are hot on their heels. Names include Catherine Zeta Jones and Denise Van Outen.
A few Leeds ladies seem to prefer playing online bingo to sex (12%) or going to the gym (22%) and many where avoiding the Saturday morning retail therapy in order to get a fix of bingo.
Matt Robinson from 888 Ladies Bingo was reported as saying "The stereotype of the traditional OAP bingo player is truly dated. Today's online bingo players are independent, professional women who enjoy all the fun of the game but on their terms.With today's sites you are as likely to find gaggles of girls getting together for a natter in a bingo chat room as you are down at a Leeds wine bar."
