Is Poker the new Bingo?

I myself have played a few hands of online poker, even managing to pocket £1200 for a £2.25 stake at an online poker tournament coming 4th out of 600! The question is though is it likely to overtake bingo as the favourite online past time of women.
Like Bingo previously held the stigma of blue rinses, bingo wings dentures Poker, to some extent held the male equivalent - old men in smoke filled dingy back rooms with mafia style stakes.

Poker is one of the most well known card games with numerous variations of the game, five card stud, Omaha, Texas Hold 'Em to name but a few - it's the game synonymous with famous cowboys like Wild Bill Hickok who was shot in the back of the head with a .45 calibre revolver by Jack McCall whilst playing poker.

Even some Welsh casino's are offering poker packages for birthdays and hen nights and tutoring is also on offer with on Welsh lady, Debbie Channing even looks set to compete in the Wales Poker League final in Cardiff.

An upper hand that women hold over men is that they have an inability to understand how our minds work, thus giving us the advantage against them in a Poker game according to Debbie.

Shirley Rosario, a top US poker player says men perceive woman as "tight, weak, emotional, less likely to bluff and not inclined to gamble as much as a man would be".

A YouGov poll taken in 2005 showed that up to 40% of online poker players were women so it would appear the game is becoming more popular with women. How long before it outranks online bingo?

Having played both online poker and online bingo both offer interaction with other players but on different levels. In bingo it's more of a friendship type game and why? Because their isn't really any skill in playing bingo, it's all luck. With poker it's part skill, part luck and sometimes you can go all in with a great hand (I'm talking Texas Hold 'Em, my game of choice) like pocket rockets, only to have someone call with a pair of two's and another two comes out on the table, but no ace.
