Bingo Feud settled by court
Recently I wrote about three sisters who were feuding over a £50,000 bingo win at their local Buckingham Bingo hall (although the Mirror newspaper reports the win being at a Gala Bingo hall) and how two of the sisters had taken the other to court for their share.
Well the judge ruled that the winnings did have to be shared and the sister who had kept the winnings ended up having to pay the other two £17,463 each. That works out at £1,594 more than if she had just shared in the first place!
Not only has the singular sister seen herself out of pocket by over £1500 but their is the chance that the relationship with her sisters is now irreconcilable. Surely it would have just made more sense to share in the first place?
Edna Sexton was the winner, her two sisters are Doreen Thomas and Linda Kenny. Edna now cannot bring herself to use her sister's first names and on hearing her sisters were taking her to court for their share of the money decided to spend all the money on a trip to Vegas and renovating her home!
Here is how she spent the money
- £10,000 on court costs
- £22,000 on treats for her family (discounting her two sisters)
- £18,000 on a Las Vegas holiday and decorating her house.
Edna's husband has even been reported to the benefits fraud department and both have been taken in under caution and interviewed.
Oh how money changes people!
