UnluckyForSome - Save Our Bingo
One of my favourite sites for online bingo information is UnluckyForSome and visiting today I noticed the big bingo ball (on the left) with "Save Our Bingo" on it.
I panicked, thinking "Oh My God, the government havent bought in some new legislation like the US meaning we are going to lose online bingo!", this isn't the case yet, but it could be with the double taxation levied against the bingo industry.
UnluckyForSome has joined the campaign (I have to admit, before today I didn't know their was one) to "Save Our Bingo". Director of Dark Hat Media, Rob Hutchison said "We cannot allow the unfair policy of double taxation to destroy the bingo industry. We at www.unluckyforsome.co.uk support this campaign wholeheartedly and I would encourage everyone who cares about bingo to sign the petition."
Online bingo is the only sector of the gaming industry that is taxed TWICE on their revenue, one being VAT and the second being Gross Profit Tax. Seems a little unfair to me. Gordon Brown obviously isn't a bingo fan!
The campaign was originally started by a champion bingo caller from Mecca Bingo and their is a petition available on the 10 Downing Street website.
