Bingo Industry are not happy bunnies!

Many a time I have written articles here about land bingo hall closures since the smoking ban came into force in July. The bingo industry as a whole has suffered at the hands of government both with the smoking ban and the double taxation on bingo yet they then feel the need to mock the industry with their TV campaigns for the new government run, National Lottery.

The industry as a whole are not happy!

You may have seen the ads that I am referring too, they give the impression that land bingo halls are old and decrepit, even showing an older lady driving past a closed down bingo hall on her mobility scooter! With background sounds of scratching a miraculous transformation happens, the background changes to that of beach.

Paul Talboys, Chief Executive of The Bingo Association said this about the campaign "The National Lottery is a government backed organization. Its decision to poke fun at the condition of the bingo industry is not just disappointing, it trivialises the very real distress caused to players and employees by the closure of their clubs".

A spokesman from Camelot responded by saying "the bingo hall was only closed because it's the early morning."

Someone trying to back pedal maybe?
