Mecca Bingo - in the hands of God

The gambling group Rank, who own Mecca Bingo halls across the county, have sold their bingo hall in London's Kilburn Road to a gospel church for £9 million (that's a lot of cash from the collection pot!)

Like many a land bingo club up and down the country, the club has been forced to close. Not only has the smoking ban had a knock on effect, but with bingo being the only main stream gambling industry taxed on both gross profits tax and VAT and also the cut in the number of £500 jackpot slot machines allowed, something had to give.

This ultimately is proving fruitful for the online bingo industry though - I'm not complaining ;)
