Gala Bingo agrees to pay £9000 to OAP

Gala Bingo said it would hand over the cash to 70-year old Uda Banks after reviewing audio footage of the game played at Pool Meadow in Coventry city centre two weeks ago.

Last week it was reported how the mother-of-seven and grandmother-of-six, of Henley Green, was devastated when the caller failed to stop the game which deprived her of a big win after 40 years as a member.

Daughter Patricia Clarke received the good news from Gala Bingo but has not been able to inform her mother who is attending a nephew's funeral in Jamaica.

She said: "I received a call over the weekend from Gala and they told me they are going to honour my mum's win."
