Bingo caller to millionaire!
Gill Barton (pictured left) spent 24 years working in a bingo hall and then made the decision to start her own business and it has paid off big time for her.
The mother of five chose to set up a business in training and recruitment even though many people told her that this would not take off.
How wrong they were! She has swapped her semi detached property for a seven bedroomed house and also owns a holiday home by the sea.
Mrs Barton left school at 16 but didnt start working in the bingo hall until after the birth of her third child, son Darren. She said "'I was a bingo caller for years, and it was a great job, but I only received the minimum wage. The jackpot back then was just a few thousand pounds. It was a job that really suited me as I was raising my five sons as well.I worked shifts and it was easy to fit it around what the boys needed from me."
It was her promotion to staff trainer at the bingo hall where she worked that made her decision for her, she loved training people so much that starting a recruitment company seemed a great idea. Her husband though thought she was "going through the menopause" or having a mid life crisis when she put the idea to him.
It's never too late to follow your dreams it would appear.
