Another one bites the dust
As the online bingo industry continues to grow land bingo halls across the country continue to close.
Yet another Gala Bingo club has been forced to close since the smoking ban came into force, this time it is a bingo hall in Edinburgh. I hope the members have heard of Bingo Scotland, sister site of Think Bingo and Think Bingo Plus!
The closure came about after there was a massive 80% drop in players since the smoking ban was enforced. The club used to boast 8000 customers a week but this has dropped to a mere 1500!
Many loyal customers have been left "devastated" according to the manager, Janet Duncan. It didn't help matters when a local bus service that used to stop directly outside the club no longer runs.
The number of bingo halls that have been forced to close is up to about 40 since the smoking ban.
