To split or not to split - that is the question?
The most recent big winner at land bingo, Christine Bradfield, has said that she plans on sharing her winnings with her sister-in-law, Lorraine after making a pledge many moons ago that any winnings would be shared 50/50.
Christine won a staggering £1.1 million at her local Castle Bingo Hall.
This begs the question - to split or not to split?
How many times has it been in the news that once firm friends where now arguing over bingo winnings? In some cases the winnings have actually become inaccessible to the winner until such time as any court case was resolved.
For example:-
A woman is suing her former best friend and neighbour for a half share of a £108,000 bingo win.
Isobel Robertson, 38, instructed her solicitor to begin an action against Lorna Anderson, her ex-bingo partner and neighbour in Dunoon.
The wrangle dates back to November 1997 when Mrs Anderson won the money at Mecca Bingo in the Drumchapel area of Glasgow.
Mrs Robertson says the pair had a verbal agreement to share their winnings and is suing for £54,000 plus interest.
Whenever I have played land bingo I have never entered into such an agreement, purely and simpy because if I was to win big, no matter how close I was to the person involved (ig not immediate family) I couldnt share that amount of money that would be life changing for me and my children.
