PaddyPowerBingo Advert Denied
ASA cancel Underground railway bingo ads. Paddy Power Bingo "Where Have All the Women Gone?" online bingo adverts intended for London's Underground railway system have been banned by the Advertising Standards Authority and by Transport for London officials. Bans are not a new experience for the online betting and bingo company, which in the past has had two adverts pulled by the ASA.
These bingo adverts have been spotted though displayed across London so clearly another outdoor advertsing buisness did not take the same view on these internet bingo adverts. Paddy Power often court this type of ban so that they can then make more out of PR from these advertising campiagns. It is possible that they have oversteeped the mark here as Bingo is a different kettle of fish to Poker, Casino and Sportsbook offerings.
Apparently the new online bingo ads were canned by Transport for London, with officials reportedly worried "Where Have All The Women Gone?" campaign would cause widespread offence. The material was targeted on women Internet bingo users.
The bingo adverts are currently being shown on an opinion website set up by Paddy PowerBingo, the bingo advert features a male trying to breastfeed an infant, with one bingo creative suggesting that the man of the house will have to be content with fast food, the implication being that the women of the family is otherwise occupied playing internet bingo at Paddy Power Bingo.
Paddy Power Bingo spokesmen say the group will increase their bingo spending elsewhere to compensate for the loss of the Underground opportunity.
