A 46-year-old woman from Falkirk has won £17,500 playing bingo. And she is sticking to an agreement she made, by sharing the money with the friend with whom she plays at the Gala Club in Kerse Lane.

The lucky winner says she was very shocked when she realised how much she had won.

She has been playing bingo since 1987 and plays twice a week at the Gala where she has been a member for ten years.

It was on Friday, 30 November that good fortune smiled on the woman, who is married with one son.  She won the National Bingo Afternoon Delight Game prize of £17,500, plus the house prize of £67, after completing a full house in 42 calls.

She plans to use the money on having a new kitchen, and also celebrate her win with her friend by taking a holiday to Benidorm.

"I'm very pleased," she said, "though still in shock. I enjoy playing bingo and the Gala is a lovely club.  The staff are great and everybody is nice and friendly.  My family can now expect a wee bit extra for Christmas."
