2 Little Ducks
Good publicity for Betfred through the medium of giant inflatable ducks.
Betfred's first ever stand alone TV advert to star the evergreen Stuart Hall. As I've mentioned before Mr Hall is the face of Betfred Bingo and such is the climate in favour of Bingo at the moment Betfred were given the go ahead to push the latest Betfred offering. Filming the advert went well according to Betfred insiders and the mercurial Mr Hall was apparently on top form.
Duck
racing for charity despite the sub marine Worcester Racecourse on the
day the thought of having a duck race was implemented by the Bet Fred
Bingo team the idea was given the go ahead in principle so Betfred had
to see if the racecourse were up for it. The call with the hospitality
manager for the course:
Betfred: Hi (insert pleasantries) I think we should put on a duck race for some PR and charity...
Jenny Race Course mgr:(Silence)
Betfred: Hello?
Jenny: Sorry I was just choking on my tea. A duck race.
Betfred: Sorry. Yes I think it will be good publicity for both of us as well as help some local charities.
Jenny: What kind of ducks?
Betfred: Giant inflatable ones.
Jenny: (Laughter)
Betfred: Pulled down the home straight.
Jenny: (More laughter) how many?
Betfred: Ten.
Jenny: Ten?
Betfred: Yes.
Jenny: Sounds good let's do it.
So with that the foundations were laid for the Bingo Duck Grand National.
Arriving
on course the water was aplenty for the Ducks. Ducks up, the course
and ducks branded. About five charities entered they decorated the
ducks using rosettes to sashes, you name it they had it. One young
lass, turned up in full riding gear. As for the race itself after two
hard fought semi-finals 'Mr Quakers' for St Richards Hospice and
'Splash' representing the Riding for the Disabled Association were the
two ducks via for floating glory. In the end only one duck could take
Gold and Clare Cartwright pulled Splash to victory. In a great show of
sports duck handling the RDA decided to split the £500 prize with St
Richards a gesture that represented the spirit of the day. All the
other charities walked away with £100 each for being great sports.
